With thoracic MRI scan the aim is to gain detailed pictures of

  • Blood vessels and shape (morphology and functioning) of heart
  • Abnormalities on the chest-wall, tumors in the esophagus and in vessels
  • Abnormalities of the esophagus

Thoracic MRI scan may be necessary in the following cases:

  • Disorder in thymus
  • Tumors
  • Diseases of big blood vessels in the chest
  • Abnormalities of the soft tissue around the breastbone (sternum)

In addition to plain (native MRI) examination, the contrast-enhanced examination is also available.
