With thoracic MRI scan the aim is to gain detailed pictures of
- Blood vessels and shape (morphology and functioning) of heart
- Abnormalities on the chest-wall, tumors in the esophagus and in vessels
- Abnormalities of the esophagus
Thoracic MRI scan may be necessary in the following cases:
- Disorder in thymus
- Tumors
- Diseases of big blood vessels in the chest
- Abnormalities of the soft tissue around the breastbone (sternum)
In addition to plain (native MRI) examination, the contrast-enhanced examination is also available.
